“Buying yarn is a completely separate hobby from knitting with it.”

Sydney, 21, primarily a knitter but do crochet on occasion. I like and follow from officialsydsquido

I’ve been getting really emotional over knitting tumblr recently and like “I wanna knit cool stuff and be a knitter on tumblr!” And then I realize that I literally run a knitting blog and I’m just upset cause I’m on a time crunch and have been knitting only these stupid socks for the last month
This knitting, this coat, this whole look is just such… goals.
Yesterday the high temperature for the day finally cooled down to the low 70′s! in Southern California, that means IT FELT LIKE WINTER! I woke up with a chill in the apartment and a smattering of sprinkles coming from the gray skies outside. This meant, in my sad little Californian heart, I knew it was time for some cozy knitting patterns… but not too cozy, cause it’s gonna be 100 again tomorrow.
Here’s some cozy slipper knitting patterns for all you living where it actually gets cold!
Bavarian twisted stitch knitting!
Thrumming! It’s Ravelry’s smallest construction catagory with a mere 225 patterns, but they’re 225 patterns of delightful fleecyness!
I learned about this technique last night and I’m enamored! The Yarn Harlot describes thrumming on their website
“ A thrum is a little wisp of unspun fleece or roving that is knit into your project every so often. Thrumming makes the insides soft and fuzzy, and freakishly warm. This technique is most often associated with Canada’s Province of Newfoundland and Labrador (where they know warm)”
Recources for starting thrumming can also be found there
These patterns look amazingly cozy, even for me here in sunny southern California where I’ll never need them!
When I see people churn out knitted items like nobodies business I alway gotta wonder, are you just a really fast knitter? Do you somehow knit with machine and transfer the socks to needles for your insta pic? Do you just have nothing but free time to be able to pop out a pair of socks every other day? Who did you sell your soul to?

This is the most ancient wisdom of the fiber arts.
Traded my friend some yarn for two perfectly ripe nectarines
